Choosing the Right Tutor For You

We want you to get the most out of your tutoring sessions. If you want to know how our tutors can help you, complete our online questionnaire, and Emily Marino, the President of Marino Bar Tutors, will use it to give you a free individual evaluation. After your evaluation, she will match you with a tutor based on your strengths, weaknesses, availability, and compatibility.

How can a tutor help you?

Class Rank

If you are in the lower part of your law school class, the National Conference of Bar Examiners recommends you do more for the bar exam than simply take a standard course. Our tutors will work with your study habits and academic achievements to increase your chances of success.

Scheduling

Our tutors can help you manage and keep up with your bar review schedule. Most bar review courses will give you a schedule that seems impossible to follow; one missed day can seem like a disaster. If at any time during your bar review course you feel overwhelmed or behind, our tutors will help you get back on track.

Skill Building

If you are having trouble with a particular area of the exam, or a particular substantive topic, our tutors can evaluate your skills and give you strategies and methods for improving your proficiency. A tutor can help drill you on the rules of law and give you personal feedback on your Essays, MPT, and MBE problems.

What can You Accomplish with Your Tutor?

Tutoring can be purchased by the hour for as many hours as you need. To give you a better understanding of what you can accomplish with your tutor, we have some suggestions:

3 Hours of Tutoring

  • Strategy and Approach. Your tutor will give you a strategy for reading and answering an essay or MBE question. Then, your tutor will evaluate your answers and give you feedback and tips to improve your score. OR…
  • Review a Substantive Exam Subject or Section of the Exam. If you are struggling with a particular topic or section of the exam, your tutor can use this time to help improve your understanding and confidence.

5 Hours of Tutoring

  • Strategy and Review. You can use these sessions to review one to two substantive exam subjects. Your tutor will give you a strategy for approaching different types of questions and review and discuss your answers to improve your exam taking strategy.

10 Hours of Tutoring

  • Strategy, Review and Scheduling. You can use these sessions to build a comprehensive study schedule. Your tutor can give you strategies for answering each type of question as well as methods for remembering and applying the information provided to you by your bar review course.

Of course, these are only suggestions. One of the best things a tutor can do for you is work out a lesson plan with you and for you. When you come to Marino Bar Tutors, Emily Marino will ensure that the hours you sign up for are used to your best advantage.
